Azura won 24 out of 30 events in Sunrise, Florida.

Azura swimmers tackled their first short course meet of the season at the Sunrise Open with excitement and strength.
However, challenges faced many swimmers as the week before lightning storms and heavy rain canceled many in-water practices.
Despite the challenges, many swimmers were excited to get in the water and try to achieve their personal best. When asked about their thoughts going into the meet weekend, one Azura swimmer stated: “This is my first swim meet in the U.S., but I am here to have fun!”
As the coach for Day 1 of the meet, I noticed that the feeling of enjoyment was a genuine feeling among the swimmers; I saw many swimmers smiling while competing and excited to hear feedback from their coaches.
Even those swimmers who did not achieve a personal best felt proud of how they swam and recognized the quirks they needed to improve upon. Day 1 of the meet had gone swimmingly (get it) as not only did the swimmers enjoy themselves, but the weather allowed for all the events to be swam.
However, the weather conditions for day 2 could not compare to day 1. Although most of the events were swam on day 2, afternoon thunderstorms canceled the l00 IM and the 1650 Free.
Despite the cancellation of the last two events, Azura swimmers were able to win 24 out of the 30 events swam.
With the sense of determination from the swimmers and the results of the Sunrise Open meet, the 2024-2025 short course season was off to a great start!
